Yes. Any doctor can prescribe a medicinal cannabis product for their patient, if they believe it is clinically appropriate to do so.
Prescribing doctors must hold Federal (and in some cases, state or territory) approvals before a patient’s prescription can be issued.
Prescribing doctors should have appropriate qualifications and/or expertise to treat the condition for which the proposed product would be used. If the doctor is not a specialist in the condition, the TGA may ask for a report from the appropriate treating specialist.

No, you do not! There are two key pathways for patients to access prescriptions via a medical professional.
As a medical practitioner, you can apply to access unapproved products to:
• individual patients on a case-by-case basis through the Special Access Scheme
• multiple patients with the same condition as an Authorised Prescriber.
